Old topic resurrection time!
Great choice of films on terrestrial last nite. 'Coming To America' and 'The Breakfast Club'. Two bona fide 80's classics. We opted for the latter...it has some of the greatest lines in celluloid history.
"I'll drop your dick in the dirt"
"Are you guys like boyfriend-girlfriend? Steady dates? Lovers? Come on, sporto, level with me. Do you slip her the hot beef injection?"
"Round here, im a real swell guy"
"Don't mess with the bull, young man. You'll get the horns"
"Yo wastoid, you're not gonna blaze up in here" (To Bender when he skins up)

We watched that too man! Belting film! who knew Emilio Estevez of all people would call somebody "Buttface"!!?
Its brilliant! I hadnt seen it in so long . Top film, I think that silent mental woman in it is probably the biggest fitter ever to waltz Hollywood!
Keesey likes the mental/shy type!
ginger would get it too!

The mental one (played by Ally Sheedy) is a real winner. Except for at the end when they do her up, and she ends up looking like a man in drag. She was better before!
Also see 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' and 'Weird Science' for more John Hughes classics. A true directorial legend

Anyone who claims they don't like the first Home Alone film is a liar and probably a murderer- one of John Hughes' finest moments.

I know Gaz, why did they change how she looked at the end? It kinda contradicted the whole point of what the film was trying to get across that all people are different & you cant be someone else! I thought she was much better before she was in white. Yes J Hughes has done some cracking films, one in particular Uncle Buck - a classic! Some belting 80's films lately but I have recently seen some stinkers! I.E Mannequinn - which the horrible camp fashion designer & Slag feature Kim Cattral (spelling?dont really care) Ferris Buellers Day off is Gold, as is Pretty In Pink. very mish/mash era the 80's!

Yeah, I watched The Breakfast Club last night. Great film. I'm well with Keogh here. I have a serious thing for Ally Sheedy when she plays mental, shy fitters. Didn't she have a similar role in a film when she went out with John Candy?
Three things that irritate me with that film though: 1. As Gaz says, Alison looks well better in black than what she does when she dresses up in white and 'SHOCK', they all suddenly realise that she's a complete fitter. As if they didn't notice before! 2. I have no sympathy whatsoever for the guy that ends up with Molly Ringwald, (Claire)- he's a complete arsehole. What's all that about when he mimics an argument with his dad? 'That's a cigar burn'. Wince! 3. The brainy kid. He was going to kill himself for getting a B one minute, and then he laughs about it the next! Wouldn't everyone be more concerned/freaked out about this bundle of emotions?

Some very serious issues raised there Joe! She use to go out with John candy? as if!
Whats she up to now I wonder? the last film I saw her in was war games with Matthew Broderick!
I'd still do her she looks amazing! (not in white tho!)

No, not in real life. In a film. It was that one where John Candy went out with her, but he kept on ignoring what she wanted so that he could look after his mother. She was really shy and had some sort of mental problems in that film as well. I can't remember what it was called...
Amen to that though Keesey. I guess that we have someone to add to Sampson's, 'Top Fitters', post now, and we're probably going to get some abuse for lowering the tone of the board. Good film though.

Its no way lowering the tone when SHES involved. she's like a mad dream! I need to go make a time machine, go back in time - & be with her forever! Im obsessed!!
Think I remember that John Candy film, his mum was a bit of a bitch if I recall!

Yeah, I wondered about that. If I had a smoke then there'd be no way I'd be up doing cartwheels and shit. I couldn't be bothered.

Just remembered the name of that film. It was, 'Only The Lonely'. Since you can't have a time machine. Here's the closest you can get Keesey:

This admiral agrees that she's a fitter, but sadly cannot endorse anything with even a tenous connection to Roy Orbison

She's related to Roy Orbison? no way. Just found out she was in Short circuit too as Stephanie, wasnt as good looking in that! Plus, she's not that good looking now!
