The Akoustik Anarkhy night is the one that's associated with the Nine Black Alps Guru, NOT the night at the Beer Keller on Friday. They've had their last few parties at the Longcut singers house in Oak Road. I haven't got a clue WHAT it's going to be like at the Beer Keller on Friday, but I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun.

Got lucky on WinMX last week and downloaded every My Bloody Valentine Ep and rare single i could find.Quite a lot of them as well. The myth that they were shit before Isnt Anything is IMO unfounded.I subsequently orderd "Ecstasy and wine" on LP from Britains good friend Carsten Meyer in Dortmund via Ebay for a bargain £7.50!!! ANd am currently reading "a happy death" by Camus. Its much better than "the Outsider".

'Ecstasy and Wine', is a fantastic L.P. Got that little gem from a record fair along with the, 'This is Your Bloody Valentine E.P.'. Top notch stuff! Currently being all sophisticated, and listening to, 'Aja', by Steely Dan. 'Peg', is a right tune.

A cracking little buy from Fungal the other day has got my ears involved with Slowdive's 'Souvlaki' ( i never know if I've spelt that right!)
Its cracking! Not as good as Loveless but with that style of Band, what is?? Havent got use to the song titles yet but track 12 is a beuty. As well as track 2! (God, I feel like Andy J!) ;D

I'd say the style is Shoe-Gaze, although titles like that are usually invented by lazy journalists. One album I'm loving at the moment, Beefhearts "Safe As Milk"

souvlaki is class, alison and then the one after souvlaki space station. just listened to british sea power which is pretty good, a welcome bit of craziness in this dull dull world. another which i think is alrite is gorkys zygotic mynci - how i long to feel that summer in my heart, its really soft, a bit alfieish, it passes the time pleasantly enough at the moment.

Binko, if you like that Gorkys album try 'Gorky 5' its an absolute classic. 'Sweet Johnny' and 'Lets Get Together' are on there, and as much as they are the most well known Gorkys tracks, they are arguably their most accomplished. Mega. 'Hush The Warmth' is there too, what a song
Still getting muchos listening pleasure from 'Searching for the Young Soul Rebels' by Dexy's Midnight Runners. There's more to them than the classic 'Geno' and the awful 'Come On Eileen' y'know! This is a great album.
Also, needed a bit of a pick me up after a BAD week, so i've been listening to 'Im Not Down' off 'London Calling' by The Clash quite a bit. A very uplifting song actually!

Mr Circus - im am so sorry to hear That I was the one who purchased that album & not you.
To be fair tho - out of choice - who was more likely to buy that album? Me, the full time worker or......well!!
We dont really need to do them math do we?!! ;D
Barno - a classic uplifter indeed! Almost as 'uplifting as walking on sunshine' by Katrina & the Waves! (I think thats who wrote it anyway!) ;D

Tis not really listening, but i watched Ricky Gervais' latest DVD Politics yesterday nite with a few mates at my house. Its absolute quality. One of the best stand up routines I have seen. Havent laughed as hard since the bus journey to the Bierkeller after the Betas gig. Class.

My Bloody Valentine "Ecstasy and Wine" FINALLY arrived, just short of hair loss. But the great bit is it came wrapped up in a German Local Newspaper Other current listening consists of Burning Spear, Lee Scratch Perry and Jimi Hendrix's Electric Ladyland, with the blues workouts mercifuuly skipped.
