Yes, you gotta have variation, or you get no inspiration! RHYME CRIME! Currently I'm piling through a bit of "Safe As Milk" by the captain, its crazy psychadelic groove blues-tastic! Also partial to a bit of "Dogs Got A Bone" by the Beta Band. oh check this out www.dannymills.sportlink.co.uk/

Just got myself 4 shiny new albums: Interpol-Turn on the Bright Lights (yes, i was a bit late getting it)
The Beta Band-Hot Shots 2 (cracking, much better than their debut, but not as good as The Three EP's, obviously)
Captain Beefheart-Shiny Beast (had to introduce Tropical Hotdog Nite to my Uni mates...i think they were impressed)
!!!-Louden up Now (superior punk funk, like the Rapture but more house influenced than they are)
Got my Interpol and Beta tickets as well. should be outstanding gigs.

I have also been dipping into the record fund de la drake; -Big Star: #1 Record + Radio City Just started listening to it, not bad, cool song called The Ballad Of El Goodo, they sound kind of like late Fleetwood Mac. -The Cure: Staring At The Sea: Singles Collection Dont like buying best ofs but this is cracking, one of the best bands ever (in my opinion). Next on the list are: Antics by Interpol Ian Broudies New Solo Album.

Interpol r next on my album purchase list-got my tickets for the gig yesterday-that'll be an amazing christmas/end of term brew-down for all concerned. im holding a mini eighties revival on my cd player at the moment, its all Smiths, the teardrop explodes and new order- its been like the wine at tom cornfords cheese and wine soiree's-old but good. ;D heard a bit of that !!! round at barnoloids last nite-quite good, better than a knock on the door in the middle of the night from the gestapo anyway. RUN quick!!!! HIDE THE JEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
meanwhile put my name on a mailing list for the people who do that uni interweb radio thing, thought it mmite be a humourbrew to try and get that mishkin and kapowski episode we did at uni on there for approximatly 0.8 people to listen to. we'll see what happens anyway. later team

Ah! Big Star! I do like that band... check out the Third album if you can, Drakes. It's a bit of a departure from the first two records. Well, this week the Mitchell stereo has been playing:
Kristin Hersh, 'Hips and Makers', -a career highlight from the erstwhile Throwing Muse that I met on Thursday. 'Your Ghost', is still one of the best songs of all time. Three chords + three minutes + Michael Stipe + Hersh's songwriting = one of the most perfect songs. Elliot Smith, 'XO', -can't say enough nice things about this album really. There's just not a bad song on it. I'm really missing Elliot Smith. The world needed him. Aviator, 'Huxley Pig Part 1', -just discovered this. I wanted to see what all the fuss is about, and it's fully justified. A right rare little treat. This morning I had a mixture of My Bloody Valentine's, 'Tremelo E.P.', and a bit of Vic Chessnut.
There's three albums coming out on Monday that I'm going to be getting- Brian Wilson's, 'Smile', Interpol's, 'Antics', and the new Rammstein record, 'Reise, Reise'. Then it's the new R.E.M. album the week after. Plenty of records coming up on the horizon.

Ballad of El Goodoo is a great tune. The one i would have singled out as well. And the Cure pack in one hell (or heaven) of a greatest hits Lp, up there with the best of the best ofs definitely. The recent autumn breeze has blown Nick Drake "Five Leaves Left" back onto my turntable. For some reason his music sounds better when catching the fallen and browned leaves.Probably something to do with the self-contemplation and refelection autumn inspires and Drake sings about.Been reminded of ones mortality and all.

Took a visit to Manchester yesterday, ended up spending a good hour in Vinyl Exchange, and oh what an hour, finally managed to get hold of "No Style" by King Biscuit Time, a right little ripper of a single. Had "I Walk The Earth" for ages, can remember playing it to Gaz a good while back. Tried finding a bit more Can also, but to no avail. Went to Leeds last night also, saw a few local bands; -Zealous -Lucida Console -Ten Seconds Of Chaos And finally an American band called Read Yellow. Not bad, a very heavy affair for my more subtle ears, but Lucida Console were good, a lot of good ideas. Read Yellow were also good, and I'd definately recommend you getting hold of their album if your into a new wave version of Joy Division/My Bloody Valentine/Pixies. Jordy and Lynchy definately enjoyed the show, getting up onstage for the last song! haha better luck next time with the Bass Player though guys ;D

New Interpol album.....class. Very uplifting, which is rather strange. Got it the day it came out....and it takes a very special band to force the Barnoloid's hand in that department.
Also, Zeroes to Heroes by the Beta Band. Cant believe i was so late getting into them. Shockingly good

Gary, youve used many words there, some being true, some being shockingly false. Firstly, it's Heroes To Zeroes, but that's just pedantic. Secondly, the new Interpol album, it's not good. You can't have an uplifting Interpol album, you need a damp, dirty and evil Interpol album. But the thing is, on "Antics" you don't get either of these. You just get dull, dull album, with Slow Hands being the solitary highlight.
This is, of course, just my opinion ;D

Antics isnt as immediate as the last one but its a real grower, especially the first 6 songs.

Believe or not the £44.50, that this rotten government deems it neccesary to live on doesnt include allowances for extension of the record collection so one has been forced into the position of donwloading two ENTIRE Nick Drake albums. It is taking ages. When they are finally complete thus will be my current listening.

this may go down like a.....oh no I better not say that, but my current musical tipple is a fine album called Jollification by The Lightning Seeds
now before you laugh at the singles i.e Lucky You, Marvellous, you gotta listen to the album tracks, some of the most trippy/sweet Keyboards you could hear, as well as some damn good melodies.
shame about your new solo effort tho, Broudie!!!

The first band i ever got into, around 11, 12 years old.and i think Jollification was the first album i ever bought, excluding Kylie Minogue which i was conned into getting at the age of 5, and which to this day nestles in my Lp collection sandwhiched between "the mighty lemondrops" and Gary Moore "back on the street" (both shit). Sense is my favourite lightening Seeds tune, i remember seeing them play it at Mcalpine stadium, supporting "the Beautiful south".(i went cos the Seeds and the cast were supporting).long time ago.Stuck in my head ever sense. "im flying high on something beautiful and aimless".
